Program Note

[ Posted Tuesday, May 1st, 2012 – 20:05 UTC ]

There will be no column today, as I spent the time "occupying" the library, furthering my research. Tomorrow is "Obama Poll Watch" day, though, so that should make up for it. Also, preparations have begun for the general election season's "Electoral Math" column series as well, so you've got that to look forward too, as well.

It was phenomenal!! It was my first one (well, pleasure cruise anyways) and I had a blast...

Ya'all might come across some viral youtube stuff. I can swear that it wasn't me!! It was my evil twin!!

    But seriously, folks..

We had a discussion a year ago about the Bin Laden take down.

Back then ya'all swore up and down that we (the USA) doesn't need to "spike the football"...

Yet, that's what Obama has been doing the last week or so. Spiking the football from here to Afghanistan...

So I am curious as to ya'all's thoughts on this..

Do you STILL believe that we don't need to "Spike The Football"??

Or, because it will help Obama's waning campaign, is "Spiking The Football" ok now???

Inquiring minds want to know.. :D

    Apples. And. Orangutans.

Back then, the discussion was about whether (1) giving bin Laden a minimally-respectful "burial at sea" was acceptable, or whether we should instead have vented our collective bile by desecrating his corpse in some way, and (2) whether we should have indulged our insatiable thirst for gory images by circulating graphic photographs of whatever might have been done to bin Laden's corpse.

Now, it's about whether the banner foreign-policy accomplishment of Obama's current term has to be excluded from the campaign because, well, including it would benefit a Democrat and we can't have that.

    Michale,

I'm all for a little warranted spiking of the football, every now and again, when the opportunity presents. Always have been.

dsws is correct ... why do you persist on comparing apples and spaceships? An intelligent discussion is impossible when the facts of any given matter are not understood or not placed in their proper context.

So, in other words, if it helps Obama to NOT spike the football, then NOT spiking the football is the right thing to do..

But, if it helps Obama to SPIKE the football, then SPIKING the football is the right thing to do...

Why don't we just eliminate a lot of pseudo-"debate" and ya'all simply state that whatever Obama does, it's the right thing to do...

It would make things SO much simpler...

Because, when all is said and done, THAT is the position ya'all take.

When President Romney is sworn in, Jan 2013, ya'all will go back to opposing everything you opposed under President Bush but supported under President Obama..

"We are at war with Eurasia. We have always been at war with Eurasia."

Once again, I am simply astonished at all that power that that little "-D" holds over ya'all...

    It's positively frightening...

Looks like Obama doesn't want to rock the boat with China...

It's simply amazing how the Obama administration constantly appeases our enemies by throwing our friends under the bus...

Where are all the liberals who think that Human Rights are paramount??

Oh yea, that's right. Their heads are so far up Obama's ass, they haven't seen the light of day for over three years... :^/

I have no doubt that ya'all will be able to come up with some perfectly good reasons why it's perfectly OK for Obama to throw this good man and his family to the Chinese wolves...

No, actually that WASN'T the discussion..

The discussion was whether or not the government should release photos of Bin Laden's corpse so that Americans (and people world-wide) can see for themselves that the man who masterminded the brutal murder of over 3000 innocent men, women and children has actually departed from this earth..

    It's called "closure"..

    It's a psychological term...

    Look it up..

Such "closure" was, for all intents and purposes, ridiculed on this particular forum as "spiking the football"...

A practice that, again per this forum, serves no useful purpose...

Flash Forward to today and we find that bragging about playing a minor risk-free part in that momentous event, bragging to such an extent that the actual heroes who actually DID the deed condemn said bragging far and wide, is (all of the sudden) ***NOT*** "spiking the football"...

So, to make sure we are all on the same page on this...

Granting "closure" to the MILLIONS of people world-wide who were impacted and devastated by this heinous and barbaric assault on humanity is considered "spiking the football"...

But bragging about a small and nearly insignificant and risk free part in drafting a fraking memo to authorize the assault, **** SOLELY FOR THE PURPOSES OF WINNING A FRAKING RE-ELECTION**** is somehow decent and appropriate!!!????

    Seriously...

    What planet am I on???
