Be Careful What You Bet On...

[ Posted Thursday, July 5th, 2012 – 16:29 UTC ]

Since it's the day after a mid-week holiday, we're going to take it easy today, and run a photo sent in by one of our faithful readers, for everyone's enjoyment.

After losing a bet made in these very pages, "Michale" humbly wore the following shirt all day long at his place of business:

Obama Got Osama

Wear it with style, Michale, and in the future be careful making such rash bets...

Heh.

I do have to say I was awfully impressed by the camera setup. Guessing you did all the work for this yourself, Michale.

Might have to pick your brain in the future.

My latest investment is the new Nest thermostat. Don't know if you've seen these but it looks amazingly easy to install and you can also operate it remotely online. It should be in tomorrow and I can't wait to begin experimenting

p.s. And no ... I'm not a spokesperson for Nest or in any way associated w/ the company. It just looks so dang cool :)

I did.. During my military service, my specialty was surveillance..

Here's a screen shot of the entire Flea Market system I set up.

WOW!! That's frakin' awesome!!! :D Funny, the wife and I were just talking about having a WiFi equipped thermostat. We don't like to leave the AC running all day, cuz it will be like 95 in the house when we get home. Would be nice to log in to our thermostat and get things going and check things out. :D

Eventually, I want to put every appliance we have on the Net :D

I thought the same thing. The amazing thing is that they tell you all the installation instructions on their site (including how to know if your existing system is compatible). I didn't think I could do this, but after reading the instructions, it looks easy. And it saves $100-200 in installation costs.

I didn't realize, but it's designed by the dude who made the iPod. Nest is his new company. And he wanted to re-engineer the thermostat from the ground up.

I've been trying to convince my girlfriend to get a programmable thermostat to lower the temp during the day while she's at work. She wouldn't even think about it until I showed her how cool the Nest looked :)

I had so much fun in your store, Michale. I think you have just the neato-est setup. It's my fantasy shop. Just the right size; just the right amount of traffic. I must have been a shopkeeper in a past life, because I so relate to this.
