Program Note

[ Posted Thursday, April 25th, 2019 – 17:55 UTC ]

My apologies, but there will be no new column today. I am dealing with automotive (transmission) problems, and had to spend all day running around, leaving no time to write. Hopefully, I'll still be able to get a column out tomorrow for the weekly Friday Talking Points roundup. For now, my apologies again for the lack of column today.

All the reasons Joe Biden shouldn't run...

He should get out of politics while on top..

It's going to be shame when he is totally decimated by his "fellow" Democrats and leave politics with such a loss under his belt..

I feel sorry for the guy..

AOC slams 'older male GOP member'… who is actually a Democrat working with her

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is in hot water after she attacked a "Republican" congressman for posing with a picture of her – only to learn he was not only a Democrat, but one of her colleagues in the House.
"GOP: Let's pose our older male members next to cardboard cutouts of young female legislators," Ocasio-Cortez tweeted sarcastically, linking to a tweet from the Kentucky GOP that showed Rep. John Yarmuth (D-KY) smiling next to a cutout of herself. Yarmouth is House budget chairman. The same 'House' where Ocasio-Cortez works.

    -Joan Walsh, CNN

Biden “spent nearly 45 years in Washington, a proper noun that’s a dirty word in presidential politics,” and “his record includes laws and episodes that are reviled — rightly — by the female and black voters so integral to the Democratic Party.”
    -Frank Bruni, NY TIMES

“Biden is a conventional, corporate centrist Democrat. He is from the Great Banking State of Delaware, after all. A 2008 Pro Publica report detailed just how cozy Biden’s relationship has been with the credit card industry — including the fact that the financial services company MBNA was Biden’s single largest contributor for 20 years….”
-Sally Kohn, Progressive Author & Activist

As I have always said.. I like and respect Joe Biden, even though we disagree a lot..

But someone of his stature should not have to endure the brutal and harsh attacks that are only going to get worse...

And Biden is too good of a man to lower himself to the depths that his attackers will go...

    It's going to be a massacre.. :(

It doesn’t appear they’ll ever figure him out.

For well over three years, Donald Trump has been under attack. He has been subjected to unprecedented slander by the media, dirty tricks by the Democrats, legally dubious investigations, and sabotage by the deep state. Yet he is not only still standing, he has a record of accomplishments that any president would be happy to claim after two years in office. One would think his opponents would be able to divine a message from this. To wit, their time might be better spent working on behalf of the voters rather than launching further futile attempts to bring Trump down.

Moreover, the polls have increasingly indicated that this would not only be the right thing to do, it would be the smart move. A new Morning Consult poll — hardly predisposed to favor President Trump — shows enthusiasm for impeachment among registered voters continuing to plummet. Only 34 percent of registered voters favor ousting Trump, and among Independents that percentage is only 31 percent. Even among Democrats, the percentage who want to see the President impeached has fallen by 12 points (from 71 to 59 percent). The voters, in other words, are done.

Social justice warriors are going to utterly maul Joe Biden

Even before launching his 2020 presidential bid, Joe Biden knelt at the altar of identity grievance. He will kneel and kneel some more through the campaign. None of it will be enough, and he is destined to be mauled by the modern left’s grievance-mongers.

The “woke” social justice movement rules today’s Democrats, and the party’s candidates are ranked for fitness on a crude, ever-shifting scale of “intersectionality,” used to determine who is most oppressed. If a candidate can claim oppression based on race, gender or sexuality, he or she can move forward. If he is deemed to have “privilege,” God help him.

Economy grows 3.2% in first quarter, GDP shows, in report showing strength as well as short-term boosts

The numbers: Reports of the demise of the U.S. economy proved unfounded as first-quarter activity showed surprising strength. The U.S. economy expanded at a 3.2% annual pace in the first three months of 2019, the government said Friday.

The gain was well above forecasts. Economists polled by MarketWatch had forecast a 2.3% increase in gross domestic product. The economy grew at a 2.2% rate in the final three months of 2018.

Since the Giants used their no.6 pick on a quarterback this year, what do you think of the Giants trading this year's 3rd round pick and next year's first round pick to the Colts for the 34th pick tonight?

This way after the Cardinals draft Drew Lock with the 33rd pick, the Giants can draft Jawaan Taylor or Cody Ford to finish off the offensive line. :D

You were onto something the other day: Rosenstein's got some 'splaining to do!

    "I'm on your team."
    "I can land the plane."

    ~ Rod Rosenstein

If the reporting is factual, it sounds like Rod Rosenstein got caught by sources and methods, and that means somebody was suspicious of him and knows a lot more. I would wager Mueller's team became suspicious of Rosenstein so took appropriate steps to investigate, and while Mueller and his team were doing their job to faithfully defend America and her citizens, Barr and Rosenstein have been busy "landing the plane" for Trump... and somebody just ratted them out.

Add another log to the Trump obstruction of justice pile. I see a subpoena in Rosenstein's future, and he should assume that there are tapes. :)

President Trump announced Friday that he would un-sign the global arms pact known as the Arms Trade Treaty in the latest illustration of his aversion to international pacts and world governance.

“We will never allow foreign bureaucrats to trample on your Second Amendment freedom,” Trump said during a speech before the National Rifle Association in Indianapolis. “I’m officially announcing today that the United States will be revoking the effect of America’s signature from this badly misguided treaty.”

Trouble is, despite some high-level griping, the Arms treaty doesn't even mention private arms. Full Stop.

Just another treaty that Trump doesn't understand, so he's trashing it.
