Massive Election Fraud Uncovered -- Guess Which Party It Would Have Helped?

[ Posted Tuesday, May 24th, 2022 – 15:02 UTC ]

Finally, a truly massive amount of election fraud has been uncovered! You'd think all of the blind adherents to Donald Trump's Big Lie conspiracy theory would be overjoyed, but that's likely not going to be the case. Because -- as has indeed happened repeatedly in the recent past -- the exposed fraud was intended to benefit Republicans. Strange how this all seems more and more like just a massive case of projection, eh?

The fraud at hand didn't involve actual votes or actual ballots, this time. It involved signatures on petitions for candidates. But unlike most of the GOP fraud that has been exposed in the past year or so, this one was a concerted effort and involved tens of thousands of signatures -- not a ballot here and a ballot there, filled out in some recently-dead relative's name, in an attempt to boost Donald Trump's vote. Here is the story, as Salon reports:

Former Detroit Police Chief James Craig, the leading Republican running for governor, is ineligible to appear on the primary ballot after failing to submit enough legitimate signatures, the state Bureau of Elections said in a report on Monday.

The report comes after Democrats and other candidates alleged "extensive evidence of fraud and forgery" by Craig and fellow Republican hopeful Perry Johnson, a deep-pocketed businessman and self-described "qualify guru." The Bureau of Elections identified "36 petition circulators who submitted fraudulent petition sheets consisting entirely of invalid signatures." The bureau said criminal investigations and charges against certain circulators are possible.

The bureau's report said that all of the petition sheets submitted by the circulators "displayed suspicious patterns indicative of fraud" and did not match any signatures in the state's database. The agency estimated that these circulators submitted "at least 68,000 invalid signatures" across 10 sets of nominating contests.

"Although it is typical for staff to encounter some signatures of dubious authenticity scattered within nominating petitions, the Bureau is unaware of another election cycle in which this many circulators submitted such a substantial volume of fraudulent petition seats," the report said.

For those Americans who have never had to dodge clipboard-wielding professional signature-gatherers patrolling the approaches to their local grocery store, in many places candidates and/or ballot measures cannot qualify for the ballot unless they show some small percentage of the electorate is willing to sign a piece of paper essentially saying (at the very least): "this person/issue deserves to be on the ballot." A signature for a candidate or referendum issue is not the same as voting for them -- a voter who signs a petition for one is in no way obligated or required to vote for the person or initiative on the actual ballot in the actual election.

Collecting tens (sometimes hundreds) of thousands of voters' signatures is a big job, obviously. Backers of a ballot initiative or a candidate's campaign staff almost always farm this job out to the professionals. Service companies who pay people to gather signatures are common -- it is a small and little-noticed industry. When you do stop and talk to one of these signature-gatherers (again, usually in front of the grocery store, but they intelligently hang out in any place with a large public gathering or lots of foot traffic), you'll find that they're actually carrying six or seven clipboards around -- because it is a lot more efficient for the signature-gatherers and the companies who employ them to get you to sign as many of them as possible in one single interaction.

The normal way of paying such people is not by the hour but by the signature. If you can collect ten signatures in an hour, you get the same money as someone who took ten hours to do the same. This almost encourages cheating, since the more signatures you turn in at the end of the day, the more money you get. Such cheating is normally fairly limited -- people might add a few extras to the bottom of their sheet at the end of the day, but not enough to trigger any suspicion. Because of this -- and, to be fair, because of voters actually "signing" the petition with a false name or whatever -- most candidates turn in at least 50 percent over the required number of signatures, to allow for any to be removed during verification.

This, however, is something different. This seems to be the companies themselves paying people to essentially sit around all day filling out bogus signatures, and not even bothering to try to collect any real ones. Or, to put it another way massive and premeditated fraud. Read that statement from the Bureau of Elections again: "36 petition circulators who submitted fraudulent petition sheets consisting entirely of invalid signatures." Entirely. By three dozen of them. Almost 70,000 signatures. In other words, massive fraud.

The candidates themselves claim "that they are the victims of the scheme, not the perpetrators." They might be right about that -- the bureau specifically stated that it didn't believe the candidates were even aware of the fraud. They got scammed, to put it another way. And it could easily have happened to some Democratic candidates (all candidates pay signature-gathering firms to do the job for them). But it didn't.

An astounding five Republicans who had filed for the governor's race have been disqualified due to this scam. That's half the field, and includes the likely frontrunner. That is a huge consequence, obviously. The article provided the details for the case of James Craig:

Craig was widely seen as the odds-on favorite to win the nomination and face Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in November. The bureau found that Craig's campaign turned in over 11,000 invalid signatures, including nearly 10,000 from "fraudulent petition circulators." Less than half of his 21,305 signatures were "facially valid," leaving him short of the 15,000 signatures needed to make the ballot.

As I stated, campaigns like to shoot for 150 percent of the required number -- which in this case would have meant 22,500 signatures turned in. They got close, with 21,305. And the normal and expected invalid signatures (which happen in every race, no matter what, it's worth mentioning) is the difference between "over 11,000" and "nearly 10,000" -- at least a thousand, maybe two. That would be the expected and normal drop, and it wouldn't have disqualified Craig, due to all the extra padding over the required number.

You can bet that this is all going to generate massive lawsuits, if the candidates truly were duped. Criminal penalties might also apply. So the perpetrators aren't going to get off scot-free. But the entire landscape of the Republican governor's race has been altered, and nothing's going to change that. The deadline for turning such signatures in has passed. The disqualified candidates have no real legal way of forcing their way onto the ballot now.

So while it certainly appears that this was a case of a coordinated grift or con job by a group obviously just looking to cash in, it has changed the politics of a major race in the state. And since the only ones affected by this were Republicans, you might think the Republican Party would rise up and denounce this massive election fraud at the tops of their lungs.

But I'm betting they won't. I'm betting that even in Michigan there will be no general outcry or hasty "election integrity" legislation proposed. Because highlighting how badly these GOP candidates got scammed is totally counterproductive to all of the other Republican efforts that they lump into the term "election integrity." So I seriously doubt whether Fox News is going to heavily lean on this -- even though it is truly the first case since 2020 of what can only be called "massive election fraud." But not all massive election fraud is created the same, and the massive election fraud which was perpetrated to aid Republican candidates is not the same thing as the Big Lie Trump is still obsessed with. So it likely won't even be much of a footnote on Fox.

Strange how that works, isn't it?

Marjorie Three-Names looking like she won't be anywhere near having to go through a runoff (some questioned this, but doesn't look likely)

“Yes, that’s the commitment we made,” Biden said.

Biden’s team was quick to claim that the administration’s policy had not changed. But the moment was reminiscent of one two months prior, in March, when Biden ended a speech in Warsaw by ad-libbing the line that Vladmir Putin cannot remain in power as Russia’s president — which his advisers again raced to walk back.

Which was reminiscent of the moment two months before that, in January, when Biden seemed to imply that the United States might tolerate “a minor incursion” by Russia into Ukraine — an assertion both Biden and his aides clambered to clarify.

Biden’s efforts failed, however, and despite promises during his presidential campaign of closing the “gun-show loophole” and instituting a national gun buyback program, no such legislation has ever made it to Biden’s desk.

If authorities have to dig into my medical and mental health history to prevent a mass shooting, I will gladly turn over that right...

The reason these mass shootings continue to happen is because DEMOCRATS think that personal privacy is MORE IMPORTANT than stopping these mass shootings.

If you people REALLY want a law that will stop these mass shootings before they even get started....

Tell your Democrats to ease up on their hysterical adherence to the old out-dated idea that personal privacy is sacrosanct..

All "common sense" gun laws that are allowable under the 2nd that CAN be passed HAVE been passed..

NONE of the laws proposed by Democrats today will have ANY effect on mass shootings...

It's time to ignore the tool being used in these massacres and concentrate what EVERY ONE of these tragedies has in common..

The common factor is NOT the tool being used.. Sometimes the tool is a vehicle.. Sometimes the tool is fire... The tool used is varied..

Depriving the entire country of their Constitutional rights in HOPES that it will prevent these mass murder incidents is moronic..

In Australia in the 20 years prior to the Port Arthur shooting that led to the AUS gun ban, 74 people were killed in mass murder incidents..

In the 20 years AFTER the AUS gun ban, 79 people were killed in mass murder incidents..

Obviously the gun ban didn't stop the mass murder incidents.. It simply lead to mass murderers using a different tool.

Who could have POSSIBLY predicted this!!???

'Elite' Border Patrol agent credited with killing Texas school mass shooter

A Border Patrol agent is being credited with killing the gunman in a deadly mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday.

An anonymous law enforcement official told the Associated Press that an agent rushed into Robb Elementary School without waiting for backup. The Border Patrol agent shot and killed the gunman, who was hiding behind a barricade, this source said. The as-yet-unidentified agent was wounded but able to walk out of the school, the source added.

Are you sure everyone didn't just scroll past? I never saw the post...

    But to answer your question:

Start a national militia. If you own a gun, you must register with the militia. Every two years starting with the month you purchase your first gun you are required to show up for a drill session which would really be an overview of the command structure, where to go if the militia is called up and how the whole thing works. Otherwise it would be shooting contests, gun safety classes and just a chance to interact with everyone else in the broader community that owns a gun.

The requirement to actually do something would get rid of all the causal gun owners who own guns but never use or practice with them (or probably even clean them). It would also get people out of their bubbles and realize that Americans of all races, genders and whatever other filters keep them separated all own guns. And finally, hopefully instill a certain level of seriousness about guns. I personally don't think guns are the problem, but current American gun culture that treats guns like a mixture of talisman of worship and toys...

The larger problem aren't these high profile mass shootings. The bigger problem, which Biden ignores, is that across the whole country the homicide rate skyrocketed starting at the end of May 2020, right after the Floyd protests started. 2021 was the highest single year increase in our nations history and 2022 so far looks to be similar.

Time to admit that the protests, which Democrats fully embraced, were a major failure that destroyed the very communities they were trying to support. And to add so much irony to this - the gunman in this case was stopped by a border patrol agent, the same guys that the left has been vilifying and calling evil for years.

Don’t Surrender To Do-Somethingism On Guns

Before we even knew how the killer of 19 children and two adults at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, had obtained his guns, Chris Murphy was engaging in his customary performative emotionalism on the Senate floor, literally begging Republicans to “compromise.”

Compromise on what exactly? Murphy has never once offered a single proposal that would have deterred any of these mass shooters. Literally minutes after his routine, Murphy was asked about the obvious mental illness prevalent among most of these shooters. “Spare me the bullsh-t about mental illness,” the Connecticut senator responded, “ripping” the GOP. “We don’t have any more mental illness than any other country in the world.” That’s how serious he is about compromise.
